One of the activities of the CFC project is the definition and the distribution to all cocoa breeders of a subset of the International Cocoa Genebank, Trinidad (ICG,T). After discussions, it appeared that the distribution of this subset should be primarily a way to enrich local germplasm with clones selected for favourable agronomic traits, but efforts must also be made to maintain a high level of diversity in the subset. A strategy is proposed to choose clones for inclusion in such a subset, in order to fulfil the two preceeding conditions. We propose to name this subset the "CFC working collection" rather than a "core collection".
