Irricane : a computer model for the daily water stress of sugarcane plots

Combres J.C., Jacquemoud-Collet J.P.. 1990. Agricultural Water Management, 17 (1-3) : p. 211-211.

The authors outline a computer program which allows daily calculation of the water stress (WS) to be made for a large number of sugarcane plots. It is based on a simple relationship. The maximum evapotranspiration and the crop coefficients (KJ) were determined for Guadeloupe. The model gives a guideline to the cane grower on how much water to use in order to maximize his crop yield, with an exogenous level of rainfall and irrigation. In other respects it has permitted an objective dialogue between the researchers and the cane growers.
