The natural enemies of Bemisia argentifolii in Martinique
Ryckewaert P., Alauzet C.. 2002. Biocontrol, 47 (1) : p. 115-226.
An eight year survey was conducted in Martinique on vegetable crops and weeds to develop a list of the natural enemies of the whitefly Bemisia argentifolii Bellows and Perring. More than fifteen species of predators and parasitoids were found as well as one entomopathogenic fungus (Paecilomyces sp.). The primary predators were ladybirds (Delphastus pusillus and D. pallidus) and bugs (Nesidiocoris tenuis, Macrolophus cf. caliginosus, Orius insidiosus). The most common parasitoids were Eretmocerus tejanus, Encarsia luteola, E. nigricephala, E. transvena and Amitus bennetti. Observations on the biology and distribution of these natural enemies are provided.
