Como seleccionar una definición de bosque para el mecanismo de desarrollo limpio?

Martinez-Alonso C., Imbach P., Locatelli B.. 2007. Recursos Naturales y Ambiente (51-52) : p. 184-190.

To participate in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol, developing countries need to choose a forest definition, according to the decision taken by the 7th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Climate Change Convention. The definition requires selecting minimum values for three parameters: tree height at maturity in situ, percentage crown cover and mini-mum areas. The selected parameters will have an impact on the potential areas for afforestation and reforestation projects as well as in the type of eligible activities (i.e. forest plantations or agroforestry systems). It is important for developing countries to receive information and recommendations to take the decision according to their priorities under the CDM. This paper presents a method of analysis for supporting the selection of forest definition. A case study is also presented for Guatemala, where the method was applied in a workshop with representatives of the private and public forest sector.
