Plant growth modeling and applications. Proceedings PMA06 : The Second International Symposium on plant growth modeling, simulation, visualization and applications, Beijing, China, November 13-17, 2006

Fourcaud T. (ed.), Zhang X.P. (ed.). 2007. Los Alamitos : IEEE Computer Society, 350 p.. International Symposium on Plant Growth Modeling, Simulation, Visualization and Applications (PMA06). 2, 2006-11-13/2006-11-17, Beijing (Chine).

The PMA symposium series on Plant Growth Modeling and Applications was initiated by LIAMA, the French-Chinese Laboratory for Computer Sciences, Automation and Applied Mathematics. The main goal was to bring together researchers from different disciplines, including plant, environmental and computer sciences, forestry and agronomy, in order to share knowledge, ideas and methods in this new field. PMA06, the second conference in this series, took place in Beijing, China and hosted over 100 participants from 15 different countries. This event was organized in partnership with IEEE and was supported by several Chinese and French Institutes (CAF, CAS, CASIA, CAU, CSIG, NERCITA, CIRAD, INRA, INRIA), as well as by the French Embassy in China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). This Proceedings volume contains most of the technical and scientific results that were presented at PMA06, both as oral communications and posters. Long and short papers in the following subject areas have been published: - New advances in plant growth modeling; - Analyzing and modeling plant structure; - Modeling plant interaction with its environment; - Application of plant growth models in agronomy; - Model validation and system in agriculture; - Application of tree growth models in forestry; - Plant geometric models; - Plant and landscape visualization techniques. We hope the readers will find new ideas and research topics in this book that is rich in its diversity of approaches and applications concerning plant growth models.
