Argan ecosytem functioning are highly degraded due to the combined effects of global change and increasing anthropic pressures. The development of sustainable strategies to manage this ecological heritage is thus crucial for its conservation and exploitation. The use of mycorhizae in agricultural practices appears as one of the most promising strategy. Indeed mycorhizal fungi are key components in ecosystem productivity and stability. However, the efficiency and sustainability of controlled mycorhizal inoculations are highly dependent of the edaphic origin of the fungi used as inoculant, highlighting the need to select native symbiotic resources. The current study aims at improving our knowledge of mycorhizal diversity by using molecular approaches, notably new generation sequencing technologies. The results reveal a high diversity of symbionts, hitherto largely not described, suggesting also a relative specificity in Argan / Glomerycota symbiotic association.
