The process worked out deals with the synthesis of fatty ketones either with of C7 + hydrocarbon chains attached ta the CO group. The catalyst, a bauxite, show selectivity, even at 99% conversion of trie starting material, lauric acid for example. Owing to the unique branched chain structure of the derived fatty alcohols or ketones could become commodity oleochemicals.
