The role of human and animal mobility, within the poultry production networks, in the global spread of avian influenza viruses: context and perspectives

Hautefeuille C., Peyre M.I.. 2018. In : Actes de conférences : Le printemps de Baillarguet. Montpellier : CIRAD, p. 15-15. Le printemps de Baillarguet 2018. 10, 2018-05-28/2018-05-29, Montpellier.

During the last 20 years, the number of avian influenza outbreaks increased worldwide. In the mean time, the consumption of poultry products (meat, eggs) increased with the growth of the human population and with it the poultry production. On the other hand, during the same time period, the number of wild birds reduced. So, we can be wondering about the role of human and animal mobility, within the poultry production networks, in this increase of avian influenza outbreaks all around the world. We have started a systematic review of the literature to identify a lack of knowledge on the role of human and animal mobility, within the poultry production networks, on the spread of avian influenza at the national and international level. This talk will present the historical and current epidemiological situation of avian influenza viruses and poultry production around the world. It will also present the first results of the systematic literature review and the next steps planned for this PhD thesis.
