Visa cane, Cirad's sugarcane quarantirle program (http:/ /visacane.cirad.fr/ en/) has been in operation for several decades. Visacanecovers three main quarantine procedures: detection of pests and pathogens, elimination of pests and pathogens, and transfer of plant materials free of pests and pathogens. Recently, Visacane has established trading partner and scientific networks and has been strongly involved in a breeding network. These three networks are crucial for both guaranteeing the disease-free status of the planting material it supplies and to increase sugarcane germplasm movement around the world.Within these three networks, in the last five years Visacane has transferred 340 disease-free sugarcane varieties to more than 40 partners.
